Chas Scarantino | CEO a.k.a “The Navigator”
As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Chas is the driving force behind the vision, execution, and success of Magnus Health. For this reason, he has assigned himself the informal title of “The Navigator,” although he’s previously been referred to as Employee #1, The Sales Team, and The Coffee Maker (just to name a few). All Magnus Health customers can rest assured that he has never worn the hat of The Software Engineer.
Chas has spent most of his life in the Triangle, growing up in Raleigh and graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family – preferably while sailing on the Neuse River outside of Oriental, NC. Chas finds that sailing and running a company have a lot in common. For starters, you need a good boat; then, you hire the best crew, plot your course, and prepare to adapt to the weather. At Magnus Health, Chas concentrates his efforts on product innovation, recruiting the most talented people, providing the best service available, and fueling growth, even in volatile economic conditions. His words to live by: “Stay off the rocks!”
Allen Cobb | COO a.k.a “The Operator”
Allen thinks titles are bologna, but he enjoys rolling up his sleeves as Magnus Health’s Chief Operating Officer. In other words, he wants to talk about the nuts and bolts. How can the company be more efficient? How can we better serve our customers? What are the best solutions to the challenges we face? And why can I never get my grass to grow? Yes, it’s true – Allen can handle the operations of a company, but cannot keep his own lawn alive.
Allen is a proud graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. After spending several years in Washington, DC with great organizations like The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ: ABCO) and USA Today, he returned to North Carolina to pursue more entrepreneurial opportunities. Originally from Wilmington, NC, Allen still frequently visits the coast and gets that overwhelming sense of calm at each first glimpse of Wrightsville Beach.
Allen does not consider his job to be work and thinks of his colleagues as extended family. In his spare time, he volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County as a Young Advocate. Golf is one of his favorite hobbies; although, since the arrival of his first daughter, he now spends more time singing his ABC’s (and even less time working on his lawn). Oh…and last, but not least…“GO HEELS!”
Scott Pollak | CTO a.k.a “Head Nerd”
As Chief Technology Officer, Scott is in charge of tackling all of the technical challenges here at Magnus Health. Around the office, he’s lovingly referred to as “Head Nerd” or “HR Violation”…we’ll just leave it at that.
Scott is originally from the greater-Cleveland area (GO BROWNS!) and graduated from the University of Toledo with a BS in Computer Science and Engineering. Seeking a warmer climate, he relocated to North Carolina in 2005. Since joining Magnus Health in 2008, he and his team have created the technology application suite that has solved many major headaches for schools that are utilizing a web-based student medical record.
In his spare time, Scott injures himself while participating in a variety of sports and can’t get enough of North Carolina’s warm weather and great beaches.
