Employee of the Quarter – Q3 2018

Ed… And we’re back! Here at Magnus, the third quarter is ALWAYS a busy one. With Back to School during this time, our phone lines are busy, inboxes are full, and form submission hits a new record high year after year. With that said, our Q3 Employee of the Quarter is a special one. It means this person really shined during our most hectic time of the year. Ed, our Lead Product Analyst, has been exceptionally demonstrating the Magnus values, and we sure are proud of him!

He leads our Product Team with hard-work, team collaboration, and some dad jokes to keep it fun. Read on to learn more about Ed!

First, tell us how long you’ve been working at Magnus:
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Magnus for about 3 1/2 years.

What is your role at Magnus? Were you in a different role previously?
I am currently the Lead Product Analyst, but I have been a member of the Product Team since joining Magnus.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
I really enjoy solving problems that our users face. I spend most of my day looking at those needs and finding ways that we can help our client schools improve the level of care they provide.

What do you enjoy most about working at Magnus?
Without a doubt, I love the company culture and the fine folks that I work with. Every day I go into the office, I know that I am going to be with a fun group of people in a relaxed atmosphere.

What three words describe you?
Passionate, Curious, and Down-to-earth.

Which day of the work week are you most productive?
This is a tough one, but I would have to say that I accomplish most in the middle of the week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the sweet spot.

Before Magnus, what was the most unusual/interesting job you’ve ever had?
I think I would have to say that working as a mechanic in a garage during high school is the job that sticks out most to me. I fell into the job, as I have with many others since, and really enjoyed getting my hands dirty on a daily basis.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
Well, I just became a dad and now I know I could never live without my little family.

Favorite activities on your days off?
I love to garden; growing my own produce is so rewarding. I am also a huge music fan and try to go to concerts as often as possible.

What other hobbies do you have?
I have recently taken up woodworking. It is so relaxing! When you are able to take raw materials and create something useful it really makes you feel good.

What’s your favorite type of music to listen to?
I love jam bands and rock. I am a huge fan of the improvisation that comes with listening to bands like The Grateful Dead and Phish.

If you had to eat only one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza… Definitely pizza.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I am a great singer with a not-so-great voice. I love to sing even if no one loves to listen.
