26 May Employee Spotlight: Martika Hedgepeth
This year, we are starting something new at Magnus Health by recognizing an “Employee of the Quarter.” This person must be someone who demonstrates Magnus’ core values, which include: teamwork, positive energy, and focusing on what matters. At Magnus, we use the phrases “Make it Happen” and “Make it Better” constantly, to remind our team to not only be proactive and put forth a great effort, but to also be problem solvers, to think outside of the box, and to contribute to improving our company every day. This quarter, our company chose Martika Hedgepeth as the Employee of the Quarter. We sat down with Martika and chatted about what it takes to earn this title.
Martika started her journey at Magnus in 2012, and over the years, she has grown into a leader on the Client Services team. As the Regional Manager, she works hard every day to launch new client accounts, and to respond to our current client inquiries. She also travels the country to host Magnus Boot Camp training sessions, so keep an eye out for her this Fall!
Q. First, tell us how long you’ve been working at Magnus:
A. This July will mark five years!
Q. What is your role at Magnus? Were you in a different role previously?
A. Currently, I am the Regional Manager of the western states in Client Services and the Privacy Officer. I first began at Magnus in 2012 as a Records Specialist. After earning my degree in 2013, I transferred to the Client Services department as an Account Advocate. In 2015, I became the Regional Manager.
Q. What is your favorite aspect of your job?
A. My favorite aspect of my job is the new challenges each day brings. I also value the relationships I’ve built both internally at Magnus and with our clients.
Q. What do you enjoy most about working at Magnus?
A. What I enjoy most about my work at Magnus are my teammates and the collaborative work environment. I like that we’re small enough to roll over to each other’s desk and to ask each other questions. Everyone is really approachable and willing to assist where needed!
Q. What three words describe you?
A. Ambitious, loyal, and outgoing.
Q. Which day of the work week are you most productive?
A. Monday, I always feel extra motivated after our “Magnus Monday Morning Company Meetings” 🙂 Which probably rubs off on Tuesdays, too.
Q. Before Magnus, what was the most unusual/interesting job you’ve ever had?
A. Hmmmm. I haven’t had any unusual jobs, but I did work at DSW for a few years in college, primarily for the discount!
Q. What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
A. My friends and family. Does that count as one thing?
Q. Favorite activities on your days off?
A. I love traveling, catching up with friends, and outdoor activities.

A. Last year, celebrating my birthday in the Dominican Republic with my best friends.
Q. If you had to eat only one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. Juices and coffee. Or as Deidra, our Help Desk Manager, calls me “nuts and berries.”
Q. Do you have any hidden talents?
A. I’m a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I used to play the violin.
